When Should You Start Supporting Your Immune System?

When Should You Start Supporting Your Immune System?

At the beginning of fall, immune health may not be top of mind. You feel well, the weather is still mild, and cold and flu season seems far enough away.

Then school starts, schedules fill up, and more time is spent indoors. Once the first person in your family or workplace starts feeling under the weather, immune support suddenly moves higher on the list.

Your immune system, however, has been working all along. It relies on healthy cells, adequate nutrition, sleep, hydration, and other forms of support every day—not only when seasonal concerns begin circulating.

Immune support starts at the cellular level

The immune system is made up of cells, tissues, and organs that constantly communicate with one another. A healthy immune response needs to be balanced and coordinated, and nutrition helps provide the materials those cells use to function.

This is one reason plant compounds have become an important part of the conversation around immune and cellular health. Polyphenols, flavonoids, antioxidants, and fatty acids are often grouped together, but they are not all the same thing.

Polyphenols are a large family of naturally occurring plant compounds. Flavonoids are one type of polyphenol. Many of these compounds can act as antioxidants, helping the body manage free radicals and the oxidative stress they can create.

In other words, “antioxidant” does not refer to one specific ingredient. It describes how certain compounds behave in the body.

Naturally occurring fatty acids have a different role. They are part of the structure of cells and contribute to the broader nutritional makeup of plant-based ingredients. Together, these compounds give a whole botanical a more varied profile than a supplement built around one isolated nutrient.

What Blushwood Berry contains

Blushwood Berry, or Fontainea picrosperma, grows in a small region of Far North Queensland, Australia. Aussie Pure uses both the fruit and seed, preserving a broader range of the compounds naturally present in the plant.

Polyphenols are a large group of plant compounds widely studied for their antioxidant activity and their relationship to cellular health. Flavonoids belong to the polyphenol family and are found in many fruits, vegetables, teas, and herbs.

Antioxidants help the body manage oxidative stress. Oxidative stress occurs when free radicals build up faster than the body can neutralize them. Free radicals are produced naturally through metabolism and can also be influenced by environmental exposure and other everyday demands on the body.

Blushwood Berry also contains naturally occurring fatty acids. Although they receive less attention than antioxidants and polyphenols, fatty acids are part of the fruit and seed’s wider nutritional profile.

These compounds occur together in the plant rather than as separately manufactured ingredients. That is why Aussie Pure's Blushwood Berry uses the whole fruit and seed.

Quality also matters. Blushwood Berry is still unfamiliar to many people, and products are not always made or tested the same way. Aussie Pure independently tests its Blushwood Berry ingredient for botanical identity, pesticides, and heavy metals. Our Certificates of Analysis are available so customers can see what was tested instead of having to rely only on a product label.

Begin before the busiest part of the season

Waiting until you feel run down can leave you searching for an immediate solution. Starting earlier gives you time to look closely at what you are taking, understand the ingredients, and choose products that fit into your schedule.

Blushwood Berry is not a replacement for sleep, good nutrition, hydration, or medical care. It is another way to provide your body with naturally occurring plant compounds before seasonal demands begin to build.
